The 2020 Mtv Vmas: Another Quarantine Show?

The 36th MTV Video Music Awards nomination list is out!This year's show shall be held on 31st August 2020 at the Barclays  Centre in New York, USA from 8:00pm ET(1st September 1:00am EAT).

This announcement comes at a time when the globe is at loggerheads with the corona virus pandemic but the show is set to go on.

Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga lead the nomination list with a whooping 9 nominations each;including their duet-Rain on Me.The Weeknd and Bilie Eilish follow closely with 6 nominations each. There is a total of 15 award categories including two new ones introduced this year:Best Music Video from Home and Best Quarantine Performance.

Voting has already kicked off and if you're interested, you can actually cast your vote through http://www.mtv.com/vma/vote/ You are allowed to vote ten times per category;which I think is quite cool.Voting stops on the 23rd of August 2020 except for the Push Best New Artist category which shall go on through the show.

A Quarantine Show?

The 2019 VMAs opened with an eclectic and colourful performance from Taylor Swift performing a medley of her tracks; You Need To Calm Down and Lover.

Will this year experience such?Probably not.MTV confirmed that there may be in-person attendance of the show with social distancing or no audience at all.The upside however;is that there  will be a virtualization of the show with artists performing from various iconic locations.

The host,presenters and performers are to be announced at a later date.
